The purpose of this article is to inform and educate the business community and public at large on the processes and requirements needed when applying for a trade license. Section 13 of the Trade Act, 2003 read together with Section 8 of the Trade (Amendment) Act, 2010 provides for the issuance and the duration of a trade license. Furthermore, Section 10 of the Trade Act, 2003 stipulates that “a person shall make an application for a license in such form as may be prescribed and shall submit the application to a licensing committee of the Council in the Council area he wishes to trade from”.
